[Column] Xcode 16.0 Adds a Predictive Code Completion Model!

Note: this is a pretty low-effort post

This might be old news if you've been running the beta, but
Xcode has added a Predictive Code Completion Model!

Predictive Code Completion Model is Xcode 16's new predictive code completion feature. It's similar to Copilot in VS Code, offering suggestions as you type.

I'd personally been using Copilot for Xcode, so I'm happy Apple built this in natively ☺️

Requirements

That seems to be the requirement list.

First impressions

I actually tried it out.

First, I wrote out what I wanted to do as a comment and hit return...

After a couple of seconds, it shows a suggestion like this, in faint grey text.

Press tab to accept the suggestion. The feel of this is similar to VS Code Copilot too.
That said, the accuracy itself felt a bit lacking... If you want something more reliable, I think an external plugin like Copilot for Xcode is still the way to go. (Impressions as of 2024/09/19)

Looking forward to seeing where this goes ☺️
